Mission43 Entrepreneur Course Alum Competes in “The Greatest Baker” Competition Hosted by Buddy Valastro
Idaho Veteran entrepreneur could take the win!
U.S. Air Force Veteran, Dietrich Morgan, retired from active duty military in 2022 and currently serves as the Facilities Project Manager at the College of Western Idaho. Dietrich has always enjoyed baking, and started his businesses, The Cheesecakery Bakery LLC in 2012 while stationed in Italy.
“I was trying different recipes and techniques while bringing them into work functions. I decided to start the business page when my group commander walked up and said ‘ya know...I would actually pay for this!’ I opened a business page that same day when I got home. ”
Since its inception, Dietrich has served delicious cheesecake across the world, making from-scratch, custom orders from Italy, to England, and now Idaho, where he and his family call home.
Dietrich is currently featured in the top 5 in his group of The Greatest Baker competition. The competition is hosted by Buddy Valastro, known as the Cake Boss, of Carlo’s Bake Shop. One lucky winner will win $10,000, a feature in Bake from Scratch magazine, and have a chance to meet Buddy V himself!

The Greatest Baker competition features several rounds, requiring participants to place higher as they progress through. It’s a true People’s Choice competition - public voting will determine who will share their work in Bake from Scratch magazine, win $10,000 and meet Buddy Valastro.
You can vote for free once daily by using your Facebook account. You can also donate money for multiple votes; proceeds support the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families of children with cancer.
“My biggest goals for my business include: Being well-known in the area, I’d like my cheesecake featured in establishments throughout the state, generate enough business and capital to fund my business without the need for a huge loan. Lastly, I would want my business to outlive me.”

Group finals for The Greatest Baker competition run through January 4th, where group winners are combined in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals. Finals begin January 26th, with votes being reset and the race to take the Grand Prize will last through February 1st!
